There are several factors that can impact your overall healing process:
Age/Skin Turnover Cycle (see image above)
The outer layer of the epidermis consists of cells that are always flaking off.
Cell turnover begins from the lower levels of the epidermis and moves upwards to the outer surface level…this is called The Skin Turnover Cycle (see chart above).
The more youthful the person, the faster their skin regenerates.
The older the person, the longer it takes for their skin to regenerate…meaning their healing process and scabbing period may last longer.
Circulation
Strong circulation means lots of fresh blood and oxygen reaching the wounded area, which speeds up your healing time.
Estrogen Levels
Estrogen regulates hormones, which assist in cell regeneration and healing.
Stress
Studies have shown that stress causes deregulation of the immune system, which has been proven to cause a substantial delay in healing.
Diet
Good nutrition will help immensely with your healing process, so take those vitamins and eat lots of protein and antioxidant-rich foods.
Diabetes
Diabetics generally struggle with taking much longer to heal wounds than the average person, which can increase the risk of infection. Be sure to keep your blood-sugar levels where they should be to avoid that.
Smoking
Smoking causes delays in healing, causes premature aging and wrinkling of skin, and can also increase the risk of infection.
Exposure to Sunlight
Excessive sun exposure can cause reddening, blistering, and inflammation, which can cause infection and scarring to the area…please also avoid tanning beds.
Excessive Physical Activity
Excessive exercise will cause excessive sweating, which could cause your pores to secrete a lot of the pigment while the wound is still fresh. This could impact your overall color retention, so avoid excessive exercise for at least the first week.
Friction
Rubbing or covering the area where the permanent makeup was performed, can cause a myriad of healing and scarring issues…so please do not wear any hats or anything that could rub the sensitive area in question
Your sensitivity to swelling or bruising
Although permanent makeup rarely causes issues with swelling or bruising (bruising is extremely rare), if you are prone to either, you may experience some of that
