Post-Procedure Care Instructions:

Image showing what your lashes look like when not cleaned often, or properly. This causes inflammation. Debris, scales, and excess oil buildup becomes a breeding ground for lash mites. See below…

Everyone has some lash mites. They are microscopic in size and difficult to see to the naked eye. It’s normal and they are harmless until we end up having too many of them, which can cause:

  • irritation around the eyelid

  • bacteria build-up

  • Leave waste products that will cause you sensitivity or inflammation

  • Make lashes grow in the wrong direction or become loose

  • Block oil passages around your eyelids

  • Trigger the growth of tube-shaped dandruff around the lash base

This is why cleansing your lashes twice per day and properly is so very important!

Do’s

  • Use CeraVe (normal to oily) or Babywash to wash your face and lashes. We like these two products best for retention because they are non-greasy, do a great job of removing oils, dirt, and makeup, and the CeraVe especially is very good for your skin.

  • Wash your face every morning and night with one of these face washes (not just water). If you don’t like to wash your face with a cleanser twice per day, you will have to at least use it for your lashes twice per day. You need to dissolve the oils that build up so that they don’t loosen the adhesive bond. We also need to to be sure to remove that debris, scales, and dead skills cells so that you don’t get an influx of lash mites or inflammation. You should do this whether you have lash extensions or not. Having lashes does NOT cause more of this, but taking care of your lash extensions will definitely help with your retention.

    • As soon as you finish washing your face, gently pat your lashes dry with a clean wash cloth or towel. Never leave your lashes wet. As soon as you dry them you must gently brush them with your lash wand to resume shape and dry in that correct shape. We do sell a lash cleansing brush to help you thoroughly clean residue in between your lashes where lash mites like to breed. Ask a Concierge Team Member about it at checkout.

    • Contrary to what others may suggest, we believe that you should wash your face with cleanser the night of your new service, but do not use the lash cleansing brush that night…just follow the suggestions to dry quickly and brush gently back into shape while still damp. We use a bonder to cure your glue before you even leave our studio, so ours does not take the 24 hours most other salons do.

    • Pro Tip: Keep a clean towel close to the shower, so that you can pat them dry immediately after washing your hair/face. Your lashes should not ever be wet for longer than you need to cleanse them.

  • Get an eyelash sleep mask to protect your lashes while you sleep. Ask a Concierge Team Member about it at checkout.

  • Keep a clean lash wand (aka clean mascara brush) with you at all times so that you can gently brush your lashes frequently to maintain shape. We do give you the one we used during your service for free. However, we also sell a much nicer one that comes in a hygienic container so that it stays clean and sanitary. Ask a Concierge Team Member about it at checkout.

Don’ts

  • Do not skip washing your face with one of the aforementioned face washes twice per day. If you have a different product you like to use, you have a few choices: you can use that for the rest of your face and just use the CeraVe or Babywash for your eyes and lashes, or use another non-oily cleanser like those for your whole face, or buy a lash cleansing foam.

  • Do not use any oil-based, greasy, or creamy products on your eyes while having eyelash extensions.

  • Do not leave your lashes wet, without gently patting them dry and brushing them.

  • Do not pick at, scratch, or play with your lashes.

  • Do not touch your lashes unless you are cleansing them.

  • Do not use mascara.

  • Do not use an eyelash curler or attempt to crimp your lashes in any way.

  • Do not attempt to remove your own eyelash extensions. ALWAYS go to a professional to have them removed safely with the proper products and techniques. Otherwise, you could severely harm your eyes, damage your lashes, or even lose lashes.

  • Avoid using heavy makeup on your upper lash line as the residue will impact your retention, such as eyeshadow primer, eye pencils, or foundation.

  • Do your best not to sleep on your stomach or side so that your lashes are not rubbing against the pillow…this could cause serious breakage.

  • Do not swim, exercise, or visit a spa for the first 24 hours of your service as these activities would create a lot of sweat and moisture to your newly fragile set.
